BEIJING, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) – Chinese railways set a new record in daily passenger traffic as more than 15 million trips were made on National Day, the first day of an eight-day holiday, China Railway Corporation said Monday.
You can travel from Beijing to Shanghai (819 miles) in 4.5 hours. New York to Chicago (791 miles) takes 21 hours. Speed isn’t the only important metric - 15 million trips in a single day is an incredible accomplishment for any mass transit system.
A major purpose of this blog is to chronicle the rise of the modern Chinese Empire. I’ll state my belief upfront: we’re witnessing the rise of China as a true superpower. China’s rise isn’t inevitable - nothing in history is. But, China’s rise has an unlikely partner, the Trump Administration.
‘America First’ is exactly the wrong ideology to counter Xi Jinping’s globalism. As America begins to cede ground - China/Russia will be there to pick it up.
